New Bedford Sexual Assault Criminal Case
A New Bedford adult man reported to police that his older brother sexually molested him when they were kids. This triggered a criminal investigation. The younger brother also went to the New Bedford District Court to apply for a 209A restraining order. In his application for the 209A order, the younger brother referenced the alleged, historic child molestation. The Court granted a temporary order, ex parte, and scheduled the matter for a contested hearing. The older brother retained Massachusetts Sex Assault Defense Lawyer John L. Calcagni III, to defend him during the criminal investigation and at the restraining order hearing. Attorney Calcagni sent a notice of representation letter to New Bedford Police and appeared with the man for the 209A hearing. As a result of Attorney Calcagni’s efforts, the temporary 209A restraining order was terminated and the complainant’s application to extend it was denied. Further, no criminal charges were filed against the man.
