Multiple Victims and Multiple Counts of Child Molestation: Bail Granted

Authorities in Bristol County, Massachusetts charged a man with multiple counts of child molestation on his stepchildren. The man’s 18-year-old stepdaughter reported to police that she and her 15-year-old twin sisters were sexually assaulted by him in their family home. Two weeks later, the girls’ mother went to police and reported that the twins said they were also sexually assaulted by the man. When the mother confronted her husband about these claims, he allegedly said the devil made him do it. The man was ultimately arrested and charged in Taunton District Court with two (2) counts of Rape of a Child Aggravated by Age, four (4) counts of Indecent Assault and Battery on a Child under 14, and two (2) counts of Indecent Assault and Battery on a Person 14 or Over. Prior to hiring Massachusetts Criminal Defense Lawyer, John L. Calcagni III, the man had appeared for arraignment where the Court set bail at $25,000 cash with the conditions of home confinement, GPS monitoring, no contact with the alleged victims, and no unsupervised contact with persons under age 18. The case was ultimately indicted into Bristol County Superior Court where the District Attorney’s Office moved to hold the man without bail on grounds of dangerousness. Following a dangerousness hearing, the Court denied the Commonwealth’s motion for pretrial detention on grounds of dangerousness and granted Attorney Calcagni’s bail request, which ordered the man’s release on personal recognizance (no cash bail) with the above conditions.
