Assault on Hospital Staff Gets Dismissed
A hospital patient was in recovery following a surgical procedure that called for him to undergo general anesthesia and receive various narcotic pain medications. While in recovery, he assaulted a nurse and hospital staff nurses charged with his care. They reported his actions to hospital security who, in turn, reported the man’s actions to Providence Police. Police opened a criminal investigation into the man’s conduct. This prompted the man to retain Rhode Island Assault Lawyer, John L. Calcagni III, to defend him during the investigation and against any potential criminal charges. Attorney Calcagni contacted the assigned detective and prosecutor assigned to the matter. He provided them with his client’s medical records, which reflected the strong concoction of medications under which his client was laboring at the time of the alleged assaults, to include general anesthesia. Based on Attorney Calcagni’s efforts, he persuaded authorities to close their investigation into the man’s alleged assaults with criminal prosecution.
