Domestic Assault: Dismissed
A man was accused of assaulting his wife and adult son following a verbal altercation in their family home. The husband and wife were in the midst of a divorce after more than 20 years of marriage. The husband discovered a new love and wanted to move on. His wife was not prepared to let go of the relationship and their son was very angry about his parents’ separation.
One evening, the man visited the home to discuss with this wife the terms of a proposed divorce settlement. Emotions ran high and sparked an argument between them. When the son intervened, an altercation ensued that ended with the wife and son individually accusing the man of domestic assault.
He was arrested by Bristol Police and charged in Rhode Island District Court (6th Division). The man retained Rhode Island Criminal Defense Lawyer, John L. Calcagni III, to defend him in this matter. After appearing with the man for arraignment and several pretrial conferences, Attorney Calcagni successfully advocated for the dismissal of all charges, which have since been sealed from public record.
